Samuel Demisse was born in Keffa, Ethiopia, the province where coffee originated. In 2004, he moved to the United States and noticed a lack of Ethiopian coffee imports. This led him to found Keffa in 2006. 


Today, Keffa imports coffee from Ethiopia, El Salvador, Sumatra, Guatemala, and Peru, and ships worldwide. 


Samuel is an accomplished coffee expert, having placed 2nd in the United States Coffee Cup Tasters Championship in 2013 and 2011 and 3rd in 2017 and 2015. 

He is also one of the first 325 Certified Q-Graders in the world and an Assistant Q-Instructor. 


Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors at the World Trade Center Institute and Texas A&M University Coffee Research Center.
